Ilias Raftopoulos was born 1958 in Kalives, Crete.

His first painting experiences were inspired by his father, who was a self-taught artist. In 1979 Ilias began studying at the Athens Highschool for Art, Greece.

But in 1981 those studies were interrupted by an accident that left him paralysed. There then followed a period of recuperation and contemplation that lasted until 1985, when he started painting again using new techniques and methods of expression.

From then on he painted with incredible zeal and passion using his mouth and he became a member of the International Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (AMFPA).

He has had three solo exhibitions and contributed to numerous joint exhibitions. His inspiration is the erotic expression of the female body. A woman’s fecundity, her personal moments, her love for her body allow Ilias Raftopoulos to fulfil his artistic journey.
